OUR PRINCIPAL AND OWNER
The Principal and owner of KEA Legal Kay E Abela.
Kay has lived in South East Queensland for most of the last 30 years, and is a mother to three sons of whom she is eminently proud. Having been through divorce more than once herself, Kay understands the emotions and difficulties that face separating families and is committed to helping her clients through one of the most difficult times they will face in their lives.
Being passionate about family law, Kay’s qualifications include:
- Master of Applied Law (Family Law), November 2017
- Accreditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, January 2016
- Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution, December 2015
- Entered on the High Court Register of Legal Practitioners, Federal Court of Australia and the Family Court of Australia, October 2011

- You pay only for what you need, not for what you don’t need!
– We promise to encourage settlement of all issues early on, and we’ll only advise you to go to court as a last resort. We’ll never pressure you to engage our firm to represent you – it’s fine if you want to represent yourself and just need our assistance to prepare documents or explain the court processes.
- We offer fixed fees for almost all services so that you know our costs upfront
– We understand that seeing a lawyer isn’t usually something clients have budgeted for. So we have available interest free* payment plans to fit in with your budget and reduce financial stress.
- We keep our overheads low so we can pass on costs savings to clients
– Clients benefit from our reduced overheads over bricks and mortar law firms, making our services more accessible.
- We publish our fee schedule (not many law firms do this!)
